Silver Spring, MD (August 8, 2012) – Benjamin S. Gonzalez, MD, a board-certified physician and primary care practitioner, has released a position paper, “hCG Protocol for Healthy and Safe Weight Loss: A Position Paper by Benjamin Gonzalez, MD.” The position paper discusses the benefits of the controversial hCG Protocol, first instituted by British endocrinologist, Dr. A.T.W. Simeons in the 1950’s, which uses the hCG hormone (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) present in pregnant women to facilitate weight loss.

“The hCG Protocol is an effective and safe method of weight loss and metabolism improvement for those individuals who otherwise cannot lose weight,” Dr. Gonzalez, said. “Quite simply, it works. There is a great deal of misinformation about the hCG Protocol, which I’ve addressed in this position paper.”

The hCG hormone plays a vital role in providing support to the growing fetus. Dr. Simeons found that if a mother does not eat enough to sustain the fetus’ growth, the hCG hormone is activated, causing the release of stored fat in the pregnant woman’s body to nourish the developing baby. Small amounts of the hCG hormone administered daily to overweight patients causes the release of stored excess fat.  When combined with a very low calorie diet (VLCD), the body burns and eliminates this released fat, which results in little or no hunger experienced by the patient.

Added Dr. Gonzalez, “The traditional approach of the U.S. medical system is to tell patients ‘eat less and exercise more.’ This is initially good advice, however, it falls far short of what is needed to lower and reverse the rate of obesity in this country.”

Dr. Gonzalez concedes that the hCG Protocol is not for everyone, and should not be used as a way to manage weight for life. He believes, however, it is an effective tool that can be used for some individuals to boost their metabolism, lose weight and improve their overall health.

According to Dr. Gonzalez, average weight loss for patients using the hCG Protocol is about 0.5 pounds a day over a period of 39-49 days, depending upon the individual and their response to the diet.

He warns against the use of hCG drops which are sold over the counter. “I cannot stress this enough, the hCG Protocol must be administered under a physician’s care. There is no substitute for the authentic protocol.”

Dr. Gonzalez has been offering the hCG Protocol for Weight Loss to his patients for the last four years, with not one long-term negative side effect recorded in his practice.
